Houston, TX, December 18, 2014 – MaloneBailey, LLP, a global public accounting firm based in Houston, Texas, announced today its holiday volunteer project with BEAResource for CPS Kids (BEAR). 2014 marks the firm’s third year in a row to participate at the BEAR toy drive warehouse during the holiday season, which benefits children in Child Protective Services (CPS) care who otherwise would have no holiday at all. Each CPS caseworker submits children’s holiday wishes to BEAR, who then relays the wishes to donors. This year, BEAR is expecting to provide gifts to 10,000 children in the Houston-area.

On Thursday, December 11, 2014, members of MaloneBailey’s Community Outreach Committee volunteered at the BEARing Gifts toy drive warehouse and helped with unloading a moving truck full of gifts, sorting gifts, wrapping gifts and creating packages of gifts for the children among other tasks.

“Volunteering with CPS was a reminder of how kind and giving people can be and it’s special that our firm has chosen to return year after year. Thousands of kids in Houston will get exactly what they asked for Christmas thanks to selfless donors that just want to bring a smile to a child’s face,” said Audit Associate and Member of MaloneBailey’s Community Outreach Committee, Maria Pedroza-Velandia.

MaloneBailey’s Houston roots trace back over three decades and community involvement has been integral to our firm since its inception. In fact, a portion of MaloneBailey’s growth is a direct result of community involvement and participation at the grassroots level. Over thirty years later, community involvement remains a priority to our firm.

MaloneBailey’s Community Outreach Committee is responsible for planning the firm’s community outreach projects. Committee members volunteer, donate their time and resources and sponsor various local events with multiple organizations, including the Houston Food Bank, Casa de Esperanza, Star of Hope, Houston Children’s Charity, Interfaith Ministries, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, American Red Cross, Movember Foundation and many more. In response to its growing community outreach efforts, MaloneBailey created an annual Spirit of Community Service Award, which recognizes an outstanding member of the Community Outreach Committee.

Caroline Rosen, MaloneBailey’s Marketing and Communications Manager, says “Having this committee is very important for our employees. We find that this generation of young professionals is extremely community-conscious. They care about the environments in which they live and want to see a better future. Implementing this committee at our firm gives some of our employees the opportunity to give back to their community while bonding with coworkers.”

In addition to its volunteer efforts with the BEARing Gifts program this holiday season, MaloneBailey also held a blanket drive to support Star of Hope, an organization dedicated to serving the homeless in Houston. Nearly 40 blankets will be donated this holiday season.
