Tax Senior (US)

Job Title: Tax Senior

Reports To: Tax Manager

Job Summary: The Tax Senior is responsible for preparing corporate, partnership and individual tax returns and assisting in client management and practice development activities.  The Tax Senior will also support in tax consulting services.

Salary Range and Benefits: Commensurate with experience, standard firm benefits

Hours Required: 40 hrs + OT

FLSA Status: Exempt

Office: Houston


Major Responsibilities & Duties:

Our ideal candidate is expected to have extensive knowledge in individual, partnership and corporate tax return preparation, tax planning and tax research. The Tax Manager responsibilities will focus primarily on small to mid-size corporate clients and will include but are not limited to: 

  • Perform diversified tax assignments under the direction of Tax Partner
  • Manage list of clients to ensure all compliance deadlines
  • Prepare and/or review individual, corporate and partnership tax returns of varying complexities
  • Assign and supervise staff in the preparation of these returns
  • Prepare and/or review current and deferred tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740
  • Prepare and/or review quarterly and year-end estimates to assist clients with tax planning
  • Assist Tax Partner with developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Assist Tax Partner with engagement planning, organization, and delegation to maximize efficiency, achieve quality goals, maintain productivity, and maximize realization.
  • Be accountable for achieving engagement goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following basic qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience at a public accounting firm with a heavy focus on corporate and partnership federal and state / local income taxation, including current hands-on tax compliance work experience with a Regional or National accounting firm
  • Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Professionalism, dependability, integrity and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude.
  • Highly motivated self starter with ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.
  • Dedicated to superior client service.

The successful candidate will possess the following preferred qualifications:

  • Prior “Big 4”, National or Regional accounting firm experience preferred.
  • Experience with ProSystem fx Tax and Engagement, CCH, RIA,  or other tax preparation / research software.
  • Ability to participate successfully in a sales-based culture with a commitment to expand the tax practice

Education and Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field.
  • Advanced degree in accounting, tax or law is highly desirable.
  • Active CPA license is required.
